Be-Mobile is a finalist in the Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2026
Be-Warned, Be-Mobile's real-time traffic and safety platform, has been selected as one of three finalists in the Technology category of the Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2026. The nominated project, "Be-Warned: turning real-time data into road safety", turns fragmented traffic data into verified, real-time warnings that help drivers anticipate hazards.
Turning fragmented traffic data into verified warnings
Road safety data in Europe comes from many disconnected sources. Hazards such as stopped vehicles, wrong-way drivers, approaching emergency vehicles, slippery roads and traffic jam tails are reported late or more than once, and some never reach the driver at all.
Part of Be-Mobile's Connected Driver & Infrastructure Hub, Be-Warned brings these sources together in one platform. It validates and normalises data from connected drivers, road authorities, National Access Points and vehicle manufacturers, as well as vehicle and field signals such as the blue lights of emergency vehicles. Reports of the same event are merged into one reliable event and delivered as in-car alerts and warnings, while feedback from millions of connected drivers keeps the information accurate.
Measurable results from Flanders and the Netherlands
Be-Warned launched in 2025 and builds on technology validated in deployments in Flanders and the Netherlands. Results from those deployments include:
- Informed drivers in Flanders drove on average 4 km/h slower than uninformed drivers, measured in a blind A/B test.
- 84% of drivers in the Netherlands made room for an approaching emergency vehicle after receiving an alert.
- Crowd-sourced reports made 90 to 95% of incidents available 8 to 10 minutes earlier than official sources.
Together, these results show that timely, reliable warnings can influence driver behaviour and reach drivers sooner.
The Excellence in Road Safety Awards are run by the European Road Safety Charter and honour initiatives with measurable, real-world impact on road safety. The winners will be announced on 23 November 2026 at the EU Road Safety Conference in Brussels.
